Local First Virginia seeks promote, support and celebrate a vibrant and sustainable
Virginia economy by educating citizens, stakeholders, business leaders and legislators
about the significant economic benefits of strong local economies.
What We’re Working on: We are working to reform the procurement process to
help Virginia companies compete with out of state businesses while still being fiscally
responsible with taxpayers money.

Our goal is to keep as much work here in the Commonwealth so our economy can
benefit from the growth that comes from bolstering local businesses. However, we are
keenly aware that it is critical that we are good stewards of public money and will ensure
that local governments and the state do not overpay for Virginia goods and services.
